Elisa S. Moncarz

Elisa S. Moncarz is an award winning author, consultant, academician and

professional CPA. As a Professor of Accounting and Finance at the Chaplin School

of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CSHM) of Florida International University

for more than three decades she was the recipient of several awards for

outstanding teaching and excellence in research.  A Professor Emeritus in the

CSHM of FIU. she has been involved in a number of academic projects including

mentoring faculty for tenure and promotion and teaching, research and service

awards.

Professor Moncarz has co-authored seven books and book chapters and has

published numerous articles in leading hospitality academic journals, including the

Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, the International Journal of

Hospitality Management, the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality

Management and the FIU Hospitality Review.   Some of her publications have

been translated into foreign languages, such as Spanish and Chinese, and adapted to foreign markets including

Canada, Latin America and Taiwan.  She has been ranked among the most prolific researchers in the hospitality

field based on studies published in the Hospitality Research Journal and the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism

Education.  More recently, she has been the CHRIE recipient of the “Article of the Year Award” for a manuscript

that she coauthored and published in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education. 

A CPA in New York and Florida, she has extensive financial management and Securities Exchange Commission

(SEC) experience with national and international firms in New York and Florida where she assumed the

responsibility for the approval of SEC and audit engagements. She has also served as consultant for many

organizations in the U.S. and abroad and as referee for leading hospitality academic journals, educational

institutions and academic conferences.
